Peter Fuge and the crew from the Lions Club sold 624 sausage sandwiches at Bunnings on Saturday. It wasn’t a record – Mr Fuge said it was not unheard of to sell 700 national dishes during a busy 8am to 4pm summer Saturday – but it was nonetheless a pleasing effort, with about $1,200 after costs added to the club’s fund for community projects. Mr Fuge, who takes his sausage sandwich with a smattering of onions and BBQ sauce, has a schedule on Bunnings day: he brings enough stock to the sizzle for the first chunk of the day, then wife Derry ferries the afternoon supplies around lunchtime.
